The Genetics Company Inc. enters distributorship agreement with EUROMEDEX
Press Release Zurich, Switzerland, September 6, 2006
The Genetics Company Inc., a privately held Swiss company focusing on the research, development and commercialization of products for the diagnosis, monitoring and therapy of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and cancer, is pleased to announce the closing of a distributorship agreement with EUROMEDEX, a leading French wholesaler of research reagents and pharmaceuticals. Within the scope of this agreement, The Genetics Company will supply EUROMEDEX with its innovative beta-Amyloid (AB) detection tools for diagnosis and research of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and stroke, for distribution in France.
The Genetics Company's diagnostic and research tools enable the specific and selective detection of variants of human beta-Amyloid (AB), a key protein involved in the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative diseases. The Company's products include very sensitive and reliable enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)-based test kits for the quantification of AB40 and AB42 in either cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or plasma and cell lysate samples. While the corresponding AB42/40 ratio has been validated by several recent studies as a superior biomarker for the diagnosis of incipient AD, the Company's test kits are also successfully used in clinical trials as drug monitoring tools or for pre-clinical research and development of AB lowering drugs. In addition, The Genetics Company's portfolio of AB-quantifying tools is complemented by highly selective monoclonal antibodies for the detection of AB, in particular AB40 and AB42.
Micheline Azogui, Product Manager of EUROMEDEX said: "The Genetics Company's innovative diagnostic and research tools, which already have gained an excellent reputation in France, perfectly fit into our portfolio of top quality scientific products." Dr. Sebastian Breuer, Program Manager Diagnostics at The Genetics Company added: "We are very pleased with EUROMEDEX, an evident expert in the French life science reagents market and our ideal partner for the further expansion of our business in France."
